Course modules and teaching hours:
Module 1: Spectroanalytical methods (10)
Introduction, IR spectroscopy, Raman Spectroscopy, atomic absorption spectrometry
Module 2: Thermal analysis (10)
Thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, temperature modulated DSC, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, hyphenated techniques
Module 3: Surface characterization techniques (10)
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy, atomic force microscopy, comparison between electron microscopy and scanning probe microscopy, sample preparation techniques for electron microscopy.
Case studies and experimental demonstration will be used in addition to the theoretical concepts.
